We have had a wonderful trip. We just adored Sacha Lodge. We had the best guides who had us out 3 times a day looking for birds, monkeys and reptiles and yes we saw many. Unfortunately the birds were a bit distant for good photos. Aren't the bird tower and tree top canopy amazing? Our guides have been great. very friendly with lots of knowledge to share. The drive from Quito to Cuenca was a tad long along the Pan American Hwy but I am glad we did it to take in the farming land and the enormity of the Andes. The train ride was spectacular. So sad to think over 2000 men lost their lives building it and now it is only used for tourism. The Avenue of Volcanoes was a bit of a wash out as it was too cloudy to see any but we went to a wonderful old Hacienda La Cienega for lunch. It was over 400 years old and its front entrance of 500 metres was lines with huge eucalyptus.
We did enjoy Cotopaxi Nat. park although we only got a quick glimpse of the snow capped volcano, we saw many wild flowers, birds, wild horses and cows and even a condor fly over. Our guide was very happy about that!
Our accommodation has been terrific. Hotel Rabida treated us extremely well when John was unwell. The rooms have been very comfortable and people are very eager to please and very genuine.
Thank you again for organising a wonderful trip for us. It has been so easy.
