Skorpios III Kaweskar Route is a cruise that sails along the Southern fjords of Chile. The four-day journey on board of Skorpios III departs from Puerto Natales and navigates north to explore the multiple Patagonian channels and fjords of Southern Chile. The landscape in the area includes imposing glaciers, crystalline waterfalls, Lenga forests and gigantic ferns, as well as the local fauna such as Cormorants, Sea lions, dolphins and Condors. Furthermore, the Skorpios III Kaweskar route is the same route carved out by famous explorers such as Darwin, Ladrillero and Fitzroy.
About the vessel: The M/V Skorpios III is designed for cruising the icy waters of Chile’s fjords. It possesses the most advanced telecommunication technology and satellite navigation. It has 53 cabins and can take up to 90 passengers. Most cabins are twin beds, although some have queen size beds. However, all have private baths, heating, international phone system, TV, ventilation system, background music. It has five decks, and all, except the cabins on the Athens deck, have windows. The cruise’s open deck provides a magnificent view of stunning landscapes. You will be pampered with the fine onboard dining with international menus that are complemented by fine Chilean wines.
The Skorpios III Kaweskar Route departs every Tuesdays and Fridays starting from October to April.
Transfer to the Skorpios Terminal this afternoon to check-in and board your Skorpios III Kaweskar cruise. The cruise will weigh anchor at around 5 pm and begin sailing through the Angostura Kirke, Morla, Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento Channels.
Early this morning, the Skorpios III will arrive at Amalia Glacier and begin the approach so you can enjoy panoramic views from the ship. You will disembark at about 9:00 am on a nearby beach and take a soft hike to a viewpoint from where you can admire the glacier.
Later, continue sailing towards El Brujo Glacier; on arrival, you may disembark (weather permitting) and view the glacier from a nearby rock outcrop. Back on board, you will start to sail in the direction of the Calvo Fjord. Here you will board the Capitán Constantino icebreaker and sail along the icy fjord. You will also visit the Fernando, Capitan Constantino and Alipio Glaciers. Later this evening, you will begin sailing towards Montañas Fjord.
This morning you’ll visit Montañas Fjord, where you can see four glaciers sliding down the side of Sarmiento Mountain. Later this morning, board a smaller expedition boat and visit Alsina Glacier and its lovely bay.
After lunch, disembark once again at Bernal Glacier, boarding the boats to a beach nearby where you will start a soft walk through the native forest. Cross through a stream, which crosses a glacier water lagoon. Continue soft hiking over front and side moraines towards the glacier. Here, passengers can feel and touch the ice and see the iceberg melting. Return to the ship and sail back towards Puerto Natales through Montañas Fjord. You will be able to see Herman and Zamudio glaciers from the ship. Arrival at White angostura where you will board the excursion boats and sail among island and rocks, enjoying the native fauna and flora. Return to the ship and join the farewell Captain’s Dinner and dance on board.
Arrive Puerto Natales early this morning; disembarkation begins around 8:00 am at the Skorpios Terminal.
