Stan & Geoff, November 2010

Antarctica is unbelievable. The scenery is amazing, and it’s so white and pristine. The changeable weather makes the scenery different every time you look at it. Sometime I’ve been unable to tear myself away from the deck when we’re cruising, and I’ve missed dinner, or a lecture, and got very cold instead. Now we know why we like our suite so much. We had been UPGRADED to an Expedition Suite, which is the size of 2 Vista Suites. We have a butler and a maid who regularly service the suite and take care of any requests, free laundry, Godiva chocolates, champagne, and more comforts than we have at home. We are very happy!!! The Expedition Staff are fantastic. There are lots of them, and they are all expert in their field, and pleasant to get along with. The organization of the 2 daily expeditions is faultless, as are the daily briefings that prepare us for the next day’s activities. All the staff is well trained, very attentive and friendly. This really is the trip of a lifetime. South America was terrific, with Machu Picchu and Iguazu Falls being the absolute highlights; and with the local agents and local hotels being generally excellent (certainly better than usual). But, as expected, Antarctica must be the highlight. It is more and better than I ever imagined, and the luxury accommodation makes it too good to be true. This will be my last email. I’ll get in touch with you early in the New Year, and might even bring you a few more photos in exchange for a coffee.
